About Simply Adrians

Candy Murphy, executive chef and GM for Simply Adrian’s (aka Adrian’s) in North Truro, comes from a family of women who loved to cook and entertain.  Born and raised in Massachusetts and the youngest of four sisters, she married her high school sweetheart, Tom, and made a home with him and their two children in the suburbs of Boston.  She found the world of food and cooking the perfect fit while raising her children while they were young, but moved into the corporate world as homework and sports demanded more of the children’s time. Candy then enjoyed a 20-plus-year career in the High Tech industry, holding several senior level executive management positions in sales, marketing and merchandising; however, she always dreamed of getting back into the culinary arts and opening her own place someday.

The opportunity to re-enter food education came in the form of The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, a program in which she could enroll alongside her daughter Danielle, who had also always wanted to pursue a culinary career.  Danielle is passionate about baking and compliments Mom’s style perfectly, creating dishes that will primarily be served in the Annex at Adrian’s, the grab-and-go section of Simply Adrian’s restaurant.

Both Candy and Danielle graduated with honors and Candy was awarded the Julia Child award for “professionalism and dedication to the profession of cooking.”  She also competed the San Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef competition in February of 2012.

Creating interesting flavor combinations with fresh, quality, everyday ingredients is Candy’s simplistic approach to food.  Her philosophy is to create extraordinary food through technique and flavors.    She is passionate about helping to provide access and education on how to keep food and health in balance:  the key is using whole, unprocessed foods, stimulating the senses through variety, and keeping portions in control.  She wants to make a difference in people’s lives using food as a medium, and aspires to find time to help fight the issues facing our society’s epidemics of diabetes and obesity.

Teaming up with her daughter Danielle and their mentor, Chef Adrian, Candy Murphy works with the community of local farmers and fishermen to delight the palate of her guests for the 2012 season at Simply Adrian’s.

Bon Appetit and we hope to see you - Candy and Danielle
